Chapter 1: A Pioneer Woman's Story

(For those who have already seen this part of our saga, click here to skip to the next page!)

Among the many duties of a Pioneer Woman were churning butter, washing clothes, and keeping the wagon clean.....

In her few hours away from her family, she sometimes even taught the town's children, all of whom loved her, in the one-room schoolhouse!

Indeed, she was so busy that sometimes she felt like her own place looked like a wreck!

(The above shots were taken in Bluff, Utah)

Sometimes the stress made her feel like she was on the edge...

(Taken in Canyonlands National Park, note the dirt road we drove last time in the distance)

And to make things even worse, once in a while her indolent Pioneer husband would leave the water running and create  quite a disaster...

(Taken at Dead Horse Point. Note the dirt road we came in on in the foreground.)

But she saw some beautiful sights...

(Looking thru Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park)

Together they made it through the narrow spaces and perceived the grand vistas of life...

Indeed, there were moments when her husband could not contain his existential joy at having her for his wife, and danced on the very edge of the canyon!!

This little travelogue is dedicated to the real Ruthie, who despite her 5-Star habits is a real Pioneer in the deepest and truest sense of the word!
